Life is a collection of precious moments, but nothing is like the overwhelming joy of seeing two pink lines on that pregnancy test. I remember how much the shock and surprise completely fill you with gratitude and love (I had to take a few too many tests because I couldn’t quite believe it). Once you have processed this exciting and joyful moment, now comes the joy of finding ways to tell your partner you’re pregnant. This is a precious moment that you will both cherish forever, therefore choosing the perfect idea that resonates with your relationship should be done with care and thought.

Ways to Tell your partner you’re Pregnant to make them cry

  1. Sentimental Video

Create a short video of the best moments of your relationship. Add a special song that you know will get all of the emotion flowing. Now finally add your special announcement at the end of the video for the best surprise ever.

Songs for announcing pregnancy:

1.”Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)” By John Lennon

2. “Godspeed” by Frank Ocean

3. “Saving All My Love for You” by Whitney Houston

4. “Photograph” Ed Sheeran

2.  His, Hers, and Baby’s

Buy something for you and your partner, plus one for the baby. Some examples are matching jumpers, matching mugs, and matching pajamas. Tell your partner you bought some stuff for you both today and wait till they figure out who the 3rd one is for. A baby version of pretty much anything can get even the toughest of people aww’ing.

3. Special location

Go to where you had your first date, or another sentimental place for you both. You could take a photo and then return to the same place with your baby when they arrive. If you don’t have a special place, you could go for a walk somewhere scenic like by the sea in the evening when it’s beautifully lit. Wait for the right moment, and announce the news. You’ll remember how you felt and you place you were forever.

4. Write them this heartfelt card

Write out a card stating all of the things you love about them, including all of their qualities. Then, write at the end “That’s how I know you’re going to make the best parent to our unborn baby“. This is bound to make them feel emotional and proud.

5. Get Personalising

Get their very first personalized “daddy” or “mummy” gift. It could simply say “best mummy/daddy”, or “I love my mummy/daddy”. If you already have children then you could also get a gift that says something like “Best big brother/sister”.

Ideas:

6. Special Quote and display

Write a heartfelt quote out, frame it in a photo frame, and make a beautiful display for your partner to come home to. This could include drinks and food for you to celebrate.
Ideas for quotes found at Shutterfly:

  • “Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” —Elizabeth Stone
  • “Like stars are to the sky, so are the children to our world. They deserve to shine!” —Chinonye J. Chidolue
  • “Having a baby is like falling in love again, both with your husband and your child.” —Tina Brown
  • I loved you from the very start. You stole my breath, embraced my heart. Our life together has just begun. You’re part of me, my little one.
  • “You know what the great thing about babies is? They are like little bundles of hope. Like the future in a basket.” —Lish McBride

7. Play this sentimental game

Suggest you play this game where you take turns saying things you love about each other. Wait till you feel like there’s a lot of love flowing, and then add one of the reasons is “making a beautiful baby together“. You could say this out loud, or you could write them down and have each other read them out loud. This is bound to bring tears and a wonderful surprise.

8. Meal with clues

Prepare a meal with subtle clues throughout it and wait for them to get the hint. A relaxing and romantic meal will already have happy hormones pouring, so just wait till you see their face when they realize the theme. Some ideas:

  • Buns
  • Alcohol-free beers or wines
  • Jelly babies
  • Mini eggs
  • Napkins with baby inspiration prints
  • Ribbons
  • Use baby pink and baby blue colors
  • Balloons

9. Book a trip away

Book a surprise trip away. Maybe you have been meaning to go away for a while? or maybe you could just go for a weekend somewhere relaxing and romantic. Surprise your partner with the tickets and attach a note to the tickets stating that it’s your “pregnancy break away for the last time being the two of you“. This will make it a meaningful trip that you’ll remember forever.

10. The story of us Scrapbook

Create a scrapbook for photographs and notes all about your life together. Create a page where there is a photo of you both together when you are pregnant and write something underneath like  “expecting our first baby”. Show your partner and wait for their reaction when they see the special page. This “The story of us” scrapbook would make the perfect gift.
